Some Notes to keep in mind:
- The Sandwich is about 18″
- Try a solid background
- Choose three colors, 60% main, 30% secondary, 10% accent color. Choose lots of textures
- Think of a tic-tac-toe board, where two of the lines cross can be the focal point. Don’t over think the design. Work as you go.
- Layer large color diagonally. Sew down the edges.
- Choose secondary color and sew down smaller pieces. If you design the corners, the center will take care of itself.
- Layer yarns and small fabrics. Sew down.
- Layer Accent colors
- Embellish with buttons or other found objects
- The quilting will have taken care of itself
- Bind
Remember:
- Diagonals give energy
- Repeat patterns
- Go for light, medium, and dark fabrics
- Make the quilt say “Touch me!”
- Allow for thinking time
- Horizon lines go one/third of the way up or down
